150th Tribute uses art to save the world

Towson will present “Dance on Bones,” a multimedia experience that uses a combination of image, dance, thespian arts and music to convey messages about environmental destruction and courage in a dystopian world.

The show opens Thursday at 7 p.m. on the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Arts.

This quest for the salvation of humanity was written by Dave White, associate professor and coordinator of the Theatre Studies Track.

“’Dance on Bones’ is about the power of music and the arts to save our humanity in a future world wrecked by the effects of climate change,” White said.

White hopes that Towson students will enjoy this 150th Tribute to the Arts Event, and immerse themselves in a unique experience.

“‘Dance on Bones’ was inspired by the spirit of freedom that’s contained in jazz music.  I wanted to write a script that could bring that spirit of freedom and improvisation to the theatre,” White said. “So I wrote a script that desires a different kind of collaboration than a traditional stage play.”

There will be a preview of the “Dance on Bones” show on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The show will run from March 3-5 at 7 p.m.

“I hope that audiences can walk away with a deeper awareness of how we tell stories and the importance of stories to help us through difficult times,” White said.
