President Trump is at it again

As if the President couldn’t make an even bigger ass of himself, he managed to lower the bar of decency below Hell’s basement with a handful of remarks. President Trump publicly cancelled a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen after she expressed disinterest in entertaining the possibility of selling Greenland to him. Let it be known that the American dystopia is here now and is more disappointing and frightening than anyone could imagine.

In addition to babbling on about wanting to buy Greenland for whatever reason, Trump managed to irk Jewish Americans in a way that would make David Duke smirk.

“I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty,” said Trump.

It is important to note that approximately 79% of Jewish voters voted for Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterm elections, according to the Pew Research Center.

Trump also claimed to be the one—the chosen one. The proclamation followed another one of his denouncements of American journalists trying to check him on his handling of the current developments of a failing trade war with China.

“I am the chosen one,” Trump said, squinting ever so tightly as he glared at the heavens above. “So I’m taking on China. I’m taking on China on trade. And you know what? We’re winning.”

Unfortunately, American farmers suffering from China’s 25% tariff on domestic soybeans aren’t feeling the effects of “winning” as much as the president believes that he’s “winning”.

There may be quite a few readers wondering at this point as to why any of this unsurprising nonsense is worth discussing—it is to acknowledge a sad fact of current reality.

From mocking physically disabled journalists to bending over for Vladimir Putin to claiming that wind farms cause cancer, it seems that a significant amount of Americans still approve of the president’s volatile antics. According to a recent poll from the Associated Press, 62 percent disapprove of the president’s actions—meaning to say that about 38 percent of Americans are quite fine with the chaos. While the percentage is only indicative of the minority, keep in mind that that means that about 125,002,147 Americans either know not of their leader’s actions or are far too stubborn to admit when they’ve invested their faith into a false prophet. Extend the question across multiple polls and the minority percentage increases to about 41 percent.

With the coming week, a new act of idiocy will be reported and the bar may continue to descend and the world will continue to appropriately laugh at the US. But at the end of the day, those who continue to try to hold the president accountable for his actions must consider an important notion: holding his supporters accountable for turning a blind eye to someone who should be a proper representative of a more dignified, civil, and graceful America.
