Towson freshman earns All-CAA Honors

Freshman Jordan Cornelius finished off her debut season strong, finishing third overall in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament and becoming the first Towson golfer to make the All-Tournament Team since the Tigers joined the CAA.

“I was proud of Jordan,” said Head Coach Lisa Ferrero in an interview with towsontigers.com. “She was super consistent and just super all around. The turnaround she made from the start of the year to know, it’s like an entirely different person because her confidence skyrocketed, which is awesome to see.”

Cornelius shot a second consecutive 76 (73-76-76 for a 255 +9) over the weekend to finish off the best tournament performance a Tiger had since a seventh place finish last season from the graduated Alexis Hios.

Her weekend was highlighted by 35 pars, and six birdies. The first-year player’s efforts helped Towson finish fourth overall, behind UNCW, Delaware and College of Charleston.

The Tigers also had four golfers finish in the top 20, including freshman Julia Calomiris (82, 79,77), senior Alix Lowe (84, 78,77) and junior Erica Han (84, 78, 82). Lowe finished the CAA tournament with her third straight top-20 finish.

“It’s an honor to earn all-tournament recognition as a freshman.” Cornelius said in an interview with towsontigers.com. “My teammates helped me out a lot this weekend. It was great to see them sitting there on 18th hole and cheering me on. I really appreciated that.”
