On Nov. 20, BTS released their fifth Korean-language studio album, “BE,” through Big Hit Entertainment and Columbia Records. The album consists of eight tracks, including “Life Goes On” and their lead single, “Dynamite.” Following the album drop, BTS also released music videos for both songs.

Despite everything that is going on, BTS has had a good year. In February, the South Korean boy group released their album “Map of the Soul: 7,” which topped the charts worldwide and became South Korea’s best-selling album. In April, BTS announced their decision to cancel their world tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that did not stop the group from creating more music for their fans.

In response to the pandemic, BTS is now back with their new album “BE” which made ground-breaking records by reaching number one on iTunes charts worldwide. What is more impressive is how two singles off the album, “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On,” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

BTS made history by being the first all South Korean group to debut number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with a Korean language song.  After their album release, the group became the first South Korean K-pop group to receive a Grammy Award nomination for “Dynamite” in the category for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

The first track on the album is their single “Life Goes On,” and it is a song about healing. The alternative hip-hop song with an underlaid acoustic guitar sound showcases BTS’s feelings toward the COVID-19 pandemic and hopes to comfort people going through a tough time.

The opening line of the song is my favorite because a lot of people can relate to it.

“One day the world stopped / Without warning / Spring didn’t know to wait / Showed up not even a minute late,” BTS sings.

The second track is “Fly To My Room,” a neo-soul and pop song sung by Jimin, V, J-Hope, and Suga. The song is about the experience of staying at home during a lockdown. “Blue & Grey” is an emotional song about loneliness. The song “Die-ease” talks about BTS’s struggle of being addicted to work.

BTS is making history. However, as they continue their career, they will achieve many more successes with their fans’ support. As someone who has been a fan since the beginning of their debut, I am proud to see how far the group has come. They became an unknown group to global sensation within seven years.
