“The Kingsman” review

By: Ryan Permison, Staff Writer

With the New Year in full swing, most films scheduled to come out are sequels, remakes or reboots. I am happy to report that “Kingsman: The Secret Service” is not one of them. Based on a comic book “Kingsman” features a mission that takes place overseas.

The lead character Harry Hart (Colin Firth) loses a member of his team, and pays his respects to the agent’s wife and son.

Several years later, Hart is ordered to find his next apprentice and Eggsy (Taron Egerton), the grown son of that fallen agent, has become a petty criminal without a future.

Hart gives him the opportunity to become the next Kingsman. During his training, the agents find out that a wealthy businessman, Richard Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson), is plotting to wipe out most of humanity. It is up to Eggsy and the rest of the Kingsman to stop him.

If you’re looking for non-stop action, this is it. From the stylish action scenes to the funny one-liners of the characters, this is a great thrill-ride. It is basically “Wanted” meets James Bond on steroids. I give “Kingsman: The Secret Service” eight out of 10.
