Despite finishing fourth, Towson set a season high team score on the uneven bars (48.825) and on the floor exercise (49.175).

Friday, the Tigers finished third with a team score of 194.550 in their annual Pink Meet against George Washington, North Carolina State and William & Mary at SECU Arena.

On the vault the Tigers started with a team total of 48.450. In the second rotation, the Tigers moved to uneven bars scoring a total of 48.700.

For Towson’s best team score of the night, it received a total of 48.725 on the balance beam. The team concluded the meet with a season-best score of 48.725 on the floor exercises.

“This week in the gym, we did a lot of numbers,” junior Bridget Steffen said. “We needed to put in the work so it would show at the meet.”

Freshman Erin Tucker had torn her Achilles weeks prior to the meet but tied for seventh-place with sophomore Noelle Harada on vault with a score of 9.750.

Senior Lydia Thompson also had an injury during the meet, she had a fall on the uneven bars but landed her double flip with a brace on her leg.

On the uneven bars, McKellar was the only gymnast to start opposite with the shortest bar first and successfully land her reverse flip.

In the last event, Steffens finished the meet on floor with a career-best score of 9.750.

“They put me on floor the past two weekends, but I messed up my last task,” Steffen said. “I knew I could do it this week, so I was trying real hard in the gym and I just believed it and it happened, so it ended up being one of my best events tonight.”

The Tigers will prepare for their next quad meet against Rutgers, West Chester and Southern Connecticut. The team will travel to Piscataway, New Jersey, for the meet Sunday, March 6.
