Towson’s Health and Counseling Center hosted S’mores and Lawn Games on its front lawn Sunday as a part of the Welcome2TU weekend of events.

The event allows students to socialize with each other and meet some of the staff members that work in the Health and Counseling Center, said Allison Seeley, the Coordinator for Health Education and Promotion.

“Not only is this a fun time for the students, but gives them the opportunity to meet others,” Seeley said. “It also gives students the chance to learn where the Health and Counseling Center is.”

Students enjoyed mocktails, s’mores, and games like cornhole, Kan Jam, and badminton.  TU student Austin Raymond, who was attracted by the s’mores, felt the event was a good segway into the start of the semester.

“I think it is a good idea to have this before the hard academics start,” Raymond said.

According to Seeley, staff from the Health and Counseling center worked together to plan events that all the students would enjoy, as well as apply for permits for the fire pits and get the needed supplies.

“I think it is a way to try and get us to meet new people,” freshman Caitlin Peigh said. “And [it] gives us the opportunity to have one more day to relax before classes.”
