“The Lazarus Effect”

We’ve all wondered what would happen if we had the power to bring people back from the dead. But, what looks good on paper doesn’t always translate to the screen. That brings us to “The Lazarus Effect.”
A team of doctors led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and Zoe (Olivia Wilde) have developed a serum that can bring people back from the dead. They begin testing it on animals. However, during one of the tests Zoe is electrocuted accidently and dies. Not wanting to lose her forever, Mark tests the Lazarus serum on Zoe to bring her back and, it actually works. Yet moments after she wakes up, strange things start happening around the lab.
On the positive side, the first half of the film sets things up very well and the cast does their best with the script they were given. However, there were too many plot holes and the ending was a cop out. One thing’s for sure though, Wilde is mesmerizing as Zoe, and she does a great job here. I give “The Lazarus Effect” four out of ten.
