The Associate business competition continues

Towson’s signature business-case competition, The Associate, is well underway at the College of Business and Economics between teams Outsource and Protege.
There are six seniors left to win the title of the 2017 Associate.
Marcele Viana was a member of Team Outsource but was recently eliminated from the competition, which is modeled after TV’s “The Apprentice.”
“It gives us experience as professionals,” Viana said. “It keeps us on our toes, because we don’t know what’s coming next.”
Each week, the teams present solutions to real-world business cases posed by both national and international companies. The teams must discuss their goals, the details of the proposal and how they developed their solution.
Each team has 20 minutes for their proposals and 20 minutes for questioning from the representatives of the weekly partner company and a panel of judges.
On Feb. 21, the teams presented to global IT staffing provider TEKsystems. The teams must now prepare for Feb. 28 presentation, their third case, involving jewellery manufacturer PANDORA.
“It really shows the diversity of the program,” Team Outsource Jullyene Antunes said.
All students, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend boardroom presentation sessions. Sessions are held every Tuesday through March 14 in Stephens Hall, Room 216.
