Housing & Residence Life announced the room re-selection process for the spring 2021 semester in an email sent out to residents on Nov. 2.
Students who previously lived in Towson Run, Barton, Douglass, 10 West, and Tower D, with the exception of those part of the alcohol-free learning community, are required to participate in the spring room selection.
“Any returning student will be eligible to live in any available space on campus,” the email reads. “Every student will have their own private bedroom and will share a bathroom with no more than one other student.”
Only students who currently have active housing contracts are eligible to participate in the reselection process.
“Students that have an active housing contract can participate in room selection or be pulled in as a roommate,” the email explains. “Continuing students will be able to pull in a new student as a roommate/suitemate if they have an active housing contract.”
Students will be able to participate in room selection starting Nov. 30 through Dec. 4, depending on their housing assignment for the fall 2020 semester.

Sophomore Alexander Powelson is doubtful of students staying on campus for the spring semester.
“I don’t trust that they’ll actually keep the campus open,” Powelson said. “I don’t think a vaccine for COVID is going to be out by the time we go back to campus. So I think we’re going to be there for a couple of days and they’re going to send us home.”
According to Housing and Residence Life, they can not ensure that every suitemate pair or roommate group will be paired together because of their need to fill every available space. Students can still reselect with their selected roommate group.
“Only one student will need to participate in room selection for a roommate group,” the email indicates. “The person completing room selection must have all roommates’ TUIDs and roommate pins when selecting a space. Once you have completed the room selection process, you will not be able to add a roommate request.”
Students are encouraged to not log into their student housing gateway using Google Chrome and should log in using their Net ID and password.
According to Housing and Residence Life, students are still able to cancel their housing contracts for the spring semester and are able to do so through the student housing gateway.
