Glen Bridge closed for repairs

By: Taylor DeVille, Staff Writer

The Glen Bridge has been closed for repair since June 9 due to  maintenance issues discovered by facilities personnel during a routine inspection.

Sections of the bridge, which connects the Glen complex to central campus, were found to be rusted. The bridge was closed as a “safety precaution” and will remain closed until corrections are made.

“These components will be replaced or reinforced,” Facilities Management Associate Director Rick Walsh said in an email.

The bridge will be closed for five to eight weeks, but might take longer, Walsh said. He hopes to have repairs finished before the start of the fall semester.

Walsh said the cost of the repairs are not yet known. Once the design is finalized, the job can be put out for a competitive bid.

Those trying to travel between the Glen and the Union can use the Glen stairwell, Cross Campus Drive and the Glen access road.
