Towson University’s (TU) Athletics Department announced a temporary stop of all team activity for the Men’s Basketball team due to a TU player receiving a positive COVID-19 test, Dec. 29.

“Following Baltimore County Health Department medical and contact tracing guidelines, Towson contests at Iona on Dec. 29, vs. Morgan State on Dec. 30, vs. JMU on Jan. 3, at JMU on Jan. 5 and both games at Elon on Jan. 9/10 have been postponed,” reads a press release from Tiger Athletics.

This is the third time the team has had to pause activity due to positive COVID-19 results by Towson Athletics members. The first positive test occurred on Nov. 30, when a Top-Tier support staff member tested positive. This resulted in the cancelation of the Dec. 3 game against the University of Maryland.

Tiger Athletics later announced a total pause of team activity on Dec 5., after a player tested positive. The Tigers postponed three games; George Washington on Dec. 7, La Salle on Dec. 16, and Morgan State on Dec. 19.

The team resumed play on Dec. 23, losing 70-65 against George Mason, and are currently 1-4 after earning a win against Coppin State on Dec. 26.

TU will resume their season on Jan. 16, and are currently slated to face off against the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
