From a new pizza place to ReusePass — everything you need to know about Towson dining this year

By Jaylen Beaner-Walker, Staff Writer

Towson University’s food vendor introduced new restaurant vendors to campus this fall, including a new create-your-own pizza place, more Restaurant Row vendors and expanded ReusePass.

SNAP Custom Pizza and Salads is a build-your-own salad and pizza place. It replaced Roar Pizza in the University Union, according to Aramark Collegiate Hospitality Marketing Manager Bethany Comegys.

Students can use their Tiger Meals to get a salad, Mexican rice bowl, or a cheese, pepperoni, margarita, or hot little pizza with a fountain drink. The menu also boasts salads, rice bowls and desserts.

There will also be new Restaurant Row vendors, who rotate for two weeks at a time in one of the union restaurant spaces. Philly Cheesesteak Co. On The Roll is currently in the space and will be there through Sept. 12. Towson Hot Bagels, Deddles Donuts, Balal Saahas and Mr. Fries Man are also slated to come this semester with Towson Hot Bagels next.

HoodFellas, who was a part of Restaurant Row last semester, is at the Community Kitchen space in the union for now through September.

Deddles Donuts, which offers a range of desserts including mini donuts, ice cream, milkshakes, and more, will be visiting Restaurant Row from Sept. 29 to Oct. 10.

“Donuts and ice cream are always something fun,” owner Robin Homes said. “Hopefully it will be that thing that [students] see, makes them smile and makes them excited when they come to dine.”

Aramark will also continue its Food Truck Thursday event, where food trucks will set up shop at Paws Pavillion from noon to 4 p.m.

The first Food Truck Thursday, taking place on Sept. 4, will feature Bird Box Express and Mexican On the Run.

Bird Box Express, a returning Food Truck Thursday partner, hopes for the food truck to continue its high-quality food service. It offers a variety of savory items such as chicken wings, fried chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches to name a few.

“Our thing is having a system and consistency,” owner Lauren Miller said.

The following Food Truck Thursday on Sept. 11 will feature Fun-O-Kake, which will be offering funnel cakes and fried chicken. Philly Cheesesteak Co. and 2 Bold Chefs, a Mediterranean food truck, will be at the Food Truck Thursday on Sept. 25.

Other than bringing in new vendors, Aramark is also expanding its ReusePass to the University Union restaurants, according to Comegys.

“As we begin the new academic year, we’re proud to bring Towson students exciting updates shaped directly by their feedback,” Comegys said. “From expanded dining options and enhanced technology to improved service and convenience.”

A new halal station will be opening alongside kiosk ordering at Glen Fresh Food Co. In addition,  Aramark is also looking to expand the Starship delivery robots to all dining locations on campus.

Along with more choices, all resident meal plans cost more.

For per-semester costs, the Bronze plan has increased by 5.3%, Silver by 3.4%, Gold by 3.2%, and Platinum by 1.5%.

The amount of Tiger Meals also increased for every resident plan. The Bronze meal plan, which before had no Tiger Meals now gets two a week. The Silver plan went from three to five, the Gold from five to seven, and the Platinum plan from seven to 10 Tiger Meals a week.
