The Towson women’s soccer team achieved a historic start to the season behind the striking success from their senior forward.

Jasmine Hamid, Towson’s leading goal scorer, earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals against neighboring UMBC. Towson earned its fourth win of the season after they defeated UMBC 8-1 at home.

Hamid, a senior out of Northern Virginia, notched three goals in the first half to give the Tigers a 5-1 lead. She then went on to find the net early in the second half, scoring her fourth goal of the game and sixth of the season.

Hamid currently leads the CAA in five different categories including points, goals, game-winning goals, shots on goal and shots. Hamid has tallied six goals over the course of five games with two goals being game-winning. Hamid has already tied her six goals in 16 games during the 2022 season.

On top of winning CAA Offensive Player of the Week, Hamid earned Top Drawer Soccer Honorable Mention of the Week. Hamid’s four-goal performance is tied for most in the nation against a Division I opponent this fall.

Towson women’s soccer achieved history as they earned their first 4-0 start in program history with their win over the Retrievers. The Tigers went on to face another Maryland rival, the University of Maryland, on Sunday, Sep. 3 who handed them their first loss of the season in a 1-0 match.

The Tigers, who stand at the top of the CAA with a 4-1 record, will begin CAA play as they face off against the University of Delaware on Thursday, Sep. 7, at Tiger Field at 7 p.m.
