Connie’s Chicken and Waffles returns to Restaurant Row Monday to close out the fall semester

Local Restaurant Row will welcome back Connie’s Chicken & Waffles on Monday in the Student Union. It’ll be the last local eatery in the space for the fall semester.

Connie’s will be at Restaurant Row starting Nov. 18 and be there until Dec. 13, according to an email from the Marketing Manager for Aramark Bethany Comegys.

Connie’s was previously in the space during September serving fried fish, chicken and what they were best known for, their chicken and waffles combo.

“I like that we get more options rather than just, like having the same options that are here everyday,” sophomore Sydney Yale said.

Restaurant Row was created when Aramark took over as Towson University’s food vendor last year. The concept aims to bring variety to campus dining by showcasing a rotating lineup of local eateries. Most restaurants that have been featured have their own permanent locations like Connie’s, which has three locations in Baltimore, Chatime which has a location on Chesapeake Avenue and Bibibop Asian Grill in various places around Maryland.

Most restaurants stay for a two-week period at the Union, though some have stayed longer. With Connie’s return it’ll join the club of Restaurant Row repeat pop-ups, which includes Chatime and Pho Bac and Bibibop Asian Grill.

Reception to Restaurant Row has been mostly positive from students, with some thoughts on future vendors.

“I would like to see more, like diverse restaurants. Like we do have a lot of Asian restaurants here which is nice, but then I’d also like to see from different culture restaurants as well,” sophomore Tori Thomas said.

The Restaurant Row lineup for the Spring 2025 semester is yet to be finalized.

After student feedback and a request from Connie’s, the restaurant’s stay was extended to Dec. 13, this article has been updated with the new date.
